FRESHWATER FISHING TOUR |

Take the NYS Thurway
to Exit 48 and head north on Route 98 through the rural countryside
of the Greater Niagara Region. This will take you to Point Breeze
on Lake Ontario, a full service port offering everything you need for
angling action. Head back south on Route 98 and you'll see the Orleans
County Marine Park. A 400 foot long floating fishing dock is available,
along with plenty of boat slips. Continue south on Route 98 to Park
Avenue and head west 3 miles to Park Avenue Extension. Here you'll find
a parking area adjacent to a trail that leads you down to the Oak
Orchard River and a mile of prime trout and salmon water below the
Waterport Dam. Head back out to Route 98 and travel north once again
to Route 18. |
Take a right on
Route 20A and continue east into Wyoming County and Silver Lake.
Travel through Warsaw and look for Sucker Brook Rd. This will take you
down (south) to Silver Lake State Park. In the winter, walk right out
onto the ice for some prime hardwater action. After your stop, continue
back north to Oatka Road and head east again. Letchworth State Park
is your next destination, a great spot for fishing along the Genesee
River, especially in the scenic gorge area. Middle Reservation Road
will point you south and you have the option of taking Schenck Road
into the park or continuing south on a series of roads outside the park.
For the most picturesque drive, take the park road. Go back to Warsaw,
either back up to Route 20A and head west or following any one of a
dozen roads west to Route 19 and head north. |
